Radio Station Framework
Introduction
Section titled โIntroductionโrs_radio is a radio simulation framework for FiveM. It lets server owners create autonomous or player-run radio stations, then lets players run live broadcasts, listen from vehicles, carry portable boomboxes, call into shows, and use station-branded radio interfaces in the world.
The resource is built around three ideas:
- admins can create and manage stations in game
- DJs and cohosts can run live shows from the DJ booth
- listeners can hear server-managed stations through vehicle and boombox emitters
Core Capabilities
Section titled โCore Capabilitiesโ- Player-run radio stations with live DJ controls.
- Autonomous station mode for music, ads, and station continuity when no DJ is live.
- Station creator/admin UI for station identity, branding colors, music, ads, SFX, placement, and review.
- Emitter FX admin panel for authorized emitter testing and presentation tuning.
- Dual-deck DJ UI with real-time visualizers, crossfader, master volume, mic controls, playlists, calls, weather, ads, and SFX.
- Cohost support for shared show participation and monitored DJ state.
- Listener UI for vehicle radios, boomboxes, and station selection.
- Movable listener UI position that saves locally for the player.
- 3D world audio from vehicles, carried boomboxes, and placed boombox props.
- Vehicle muffling and spatial effects for doors, windows, distance, EQ, ducking, and low-pass behavior.
- Call-in queue with private screening and optional patch-to-air behavior.
- Optional radio-facing weather integration with external weather resources.
- Responsive UI support for common 1080p, 2K, and 4K setups.
Product Model
Section titled โProduct Modelโrs_radio owns the radio simulation layer:
- station state
- DJ/cohost workflows
- listener controls
- server-managed audio playback
- world emitters
- local station audio metadata
- autonomous scheduling
- call-in state
- station branding
- admin station/emitter tools
- radio-facing weather display
It does not need to be the world weather authority. When an external weather resource is configured, rs_radio reads the weather state and uses it for radio UI and broadcast flavor.
Typical Use Cases
Section titled โTypical Use Casesโ- A live player-run station inside a city.
- Multiple autonomous stations that keep the world sounding alive.
- A DJ booth where players can perform live with a dual-deck mixer.
- Vehicle radio listening with muffled cabin audio and external bleed.
- Portable boombox listening for scenes, events, and mobile roleplay.
- Talk radio, interviews, caller requests, and cohosted shows.
Station Audio And Licensing
Section titled โStation Audio And LicensingโThe standard rs_radio package plays server-provided local .ogg and .mp3 audio files from the songs/ directory. Server operators configure their own stations and provide content they have the rights to use and distribute where applicable.
No third-party music catalogue or remote-media add-on is bundled with the standard resource. See Installation for local media setup.
